Virtually every organization has a human resources department, so skilled HR professionals are always in demand. Human Resources Professional with Payroll and Practice Management will help you gain the essential skills and certifications you need for a role in any HR department.

The Human Resources Professional course will prepare you for the HCRI's Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification exam. You will gain industry-recognized skills that align with the Human Resource Certification Institute (HCRI) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Payroll is a vital extension of most human resource departments. The Payroll Practice and Management course covers all critical areas of payroll administration and management. You will gain an understanding of the major components of the state labor code in your chosen state.

Requirements:

Hardware Requirements:

  • This course can be taken on either a PC or Mac.

Software Requirements:

  • PC: Windows 8 or newer operating systems.
  • Mac: OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader. Download the Acrobat Reader.
  • Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.
  • Other: Email capabilities and access to a personal email account.

Instructional Material Requirements:

The instructional materials required for this course are included in enrollment. The following textbooks will be shipped to you approximately 7-10 business days after enrollment:

  • HR
  • PHR / SPHR – Professional in Human Resources Certification Study Guide

 

Prerequisites:

There are no prerequisites for taking this course, other than basic computer knowledge. However, if you plan to take the PHR exam after completing the course, you will need one of the following:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a professional HR position with a master's degree or higher, OR
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a professional HR position with a bachelor's degree, OR
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a professional HR position with less than a bachelor's degree

 

Instructors

Anna Smith
Anna Smith has worked in the field of human resources for 30 years and has taught at university level for over 20 years. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Spalding University, a master's degree in management from Webster University, and a Master Online Teaching certificate from the University of Illinois. She is also a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and a SHRM Senior Certified Professional.

Helene K. Liatsos
Helene K. Liatsos is a consultant for small businesses, travel agencies, and home-based business startups with more than 25 years of experience. Her company Home Office Management Experts was awarded the 2004 Home-Based Business of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. She is also a QuickBooks Certified Advisor and bookkeeper. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
